All students at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School must be under direct supervision. During the school day (7:45 am - 2:45 pm), students will be supervised by teachers. Any student lingering after school will be supervised by the sponsor of an extracurricular activity or will be enrolled in AfterCare. AfterCare is available each full school day until 6:00 pm.

All students must be supervised when on campus. Students who are not picked up by 3:00 pm will be supervised by AfterCare staff; families will be billed for AfterCare supervision.

Please have THIS FORM submitted should you anticipate requiring AfterCare at any point during the school year.

ILLNESS POLICY

We work hard to prioritize the health and wellbeing of our entire community. Please refer to our illness policies when deciding when to send your child back to school.

Students should be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school. Accordingly, students who are sent home during the school day with a fever are not permitted to return to school the next day.

As a rule, students who are absent due to illness will be granted one day for each day of absence to complete missed assignments, quizzes, or tests. Exceptions to this rule may be made when appropriate.

To report a child’s absence, please complete the required form or call the school at 973-334-2777 before 9:00 a.m.

When a student is absent for three or more days due to illness, a parent may call the school office before 10:00 AM to arrange for homework assignments to be sent home. Homework assignments may be picked up at the school by arrangement.

A NOTE ABOUT OLMC HEALTH SERVICES

In keeping with best practices, and in order to ensure that our students receive the highest quality care at all times, we contract with Morris County to provide nursing services. The county assumes responsibility for staffing the school with medical professionals who have been fully vetted and meet stringent practitioner requirements. In addition, members of our faculty and staff have likewise been fully trained in first aid, injury treatment and prevention, and sick care. All health needs arising during school and/or aftercare will be attended to according to the strictest medical and ethical standards, and the school does not take medical action without the awareness and consent of parents/primary guardians.
