GALA DRESS SWAP
Wondering what to wear for the gala? Looking for a sustainable option and a new look at no cost? All Lady Chanticleers are invited to participate in our first annual Gala Dress Swap! Mark your calendars for November 2nd from 8-10am and 1:15-2:30pm in Gordon Hall. More details coming soon.
HOW IT WORKS:
To give a dress: There will be a tent outside at drop-off and pick up on October 27th. Bring in as many dresses as you'd like to contribute, either for someone else to borrow or keep (just let us know which you intend when dropping them off!).
To get a dress: There will be a fitting room with mirrors set up in Gordon Hall on November 2nd from 8-10am and 1:15-2:30pm. Depending on inventory, guests will be permitted to take one or two dresses. For borrowed dresses, please dry clean and return within three weeks.
If you have any questions, please contact Maggie at maggie@maionefamily.com. We hope to see you there!
IMPORTANT INFO YOU NEED TO KNOW
All Hallows’ Eve is another fun hallmark of the OLMC experience, and it’s coming up on October 31st! For more information about this beloved tradition, you might enjoy this reflection from last year’s celebration.
As in previous years, each grade will adopt a theme for costumes; be on the lookout for your children’s themes in their teachers’ digests.
Parents can join the fun by participating in the parking lot Trunk or Treat. Simply visit our Sign Up Genius to choose a theme for your vehicle, add your name to the volunteer list, and plan to arrive by 1:15 pm to set up. Students will visit cars and gratefully take your candy from about 2:30 to 3:30 pm.
UNIFORM REMINDER
A reminder that with the colder weather coming, the warm weather uniform option has been suspended until Spring. Please make sure your children are fully compliant with our regular uniform requirements. Thank you!
EVENTS & EXPERIENCES
Please join Father Daniel and Miss Jilienne Winowski for our FINAL story and song time of the season on Wednesday, October 25th at 9 am. All are welcome, so feel free to bring grandparents, friends, neighbors, and kids of all ages. Story Time is held in Gordon Hall (in the basement of the church - guests must use the side door on Oak Street to enter). Email communications@olmcboonton.org with any questions. Registration not required but appreciated so we know how many participants to expect.
The first meeting of our parent/faculty book club was a tremendous success! All OLMC/LGA parents and faculty are invited to join us for our next meeting on November 29th at 7 pm. We’ll be reading Thornton Wilder’s The Bridge of San Luis Rey (and for those who like to read ahead, our January selection will be Quo Vadis by Henryk Sienkiewicz). Contact Theresa at theresa.k.macdonald@gmail.com to RSVP and for location details.
Mark your calendars for our first Wine & Cheese of the year on October 25th at 6:30 pm in the school. Our Wine & Cheese series is a great opportunity for parents and community members to come and learn more about a specific topic of interest and importance to classical Catholic education and the OLMC/LGA experience in particular. This month our featured speaker will be our new athletics coordinator, Mr. Howard Hain. Mr. Hain will discuss his holistic approach to athletics, his view of sports as a training ground where every athlete develops captainship abilities, and some of the exciting developments on the horizon. We hope to see you there!
Journey deeper into the garden of your own heart during this weekend-long retreat on the gardens of salvation history.
WHEN: October 27-29, 2023
WHERE: St. Mary’s Abbey Retreat Center, Morristown
COST: $225 per person
The weekend will begin with dinner Friday evening, and will close with lunch Sunday afternoon. The time together will include talks, liturgy, time for silent reflection, and an evening of shared recreation. Registration closes October 15. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
The LGA student retreat will be tomorrow, October 20th. Lunch will be provided by the HSA, but these are high schoolers, after all - they’re often hungry! Please visit our SignUp Genius to provide extra snacks and treats, and make this day even more pleasant and memorable for our students!
Please check out the HSA newsletter for up to date information on the many upcoming opportunities in which you can get involved.
To families with Welcome Signs: if you are finished with your sign, please don’t throw it away! If you return it to the school, we can use it to greet a new family next year.
ATHLETICS INFORMATION
OLMC will be hosting our annual All Hallows’ Cross Country Invitational at Central Park of Morris County, October 29th at 1:30 pm. This is the meet at which the entire school comes out to cheer on our runners and offer hosting support (course set-up, finish line judges, post-race snack distribution, etc.). Please visit our SignUp Genius to volunteer, and please make an effort to attend this meet and show your Chanticleer pride!
Please join the LGA cross country team (and coaches!) at the St. James Winter Classic 5K on November 11th. This meet is open to everyone, so grab your running shoes and sign up today! Immediately following the 5K OLMC’s cross country team will be competing at the same venue, providing a ready-made opportunity to get some great exercise and cheer on our young Chanticleers!
